Hudson River Park spans four+ miles over 550 acres of water and green space, providing unmatched opportunities for relaxation, recreation and reflection for millions of visitors each year and in every season. HRPK is a vital recreational, environmental, educational and cultural resource for New York City and the west side community.
Hudson River Park is NOT a City-run park and relies on supporters like you for its maintenance, operations and free programs. With your support of the HRPK 550 Fund, the nation’s preeminent waterfront park can remain a clean, green and beautiful destination for all — now and for generations to come. Hudson River Park Friends needs to raise $550,000 before March 31, 2024.
With the Park’s expansion, there is an increased need for operational and maintenance revenue. As you are aware, our model of self-sufficiency means that our friends and neighbors participate directly in making the Park the incredible community resource that it is today. Your gift to Hudson River Park Friends will help us to maintain and grow the Parks landscapes and gardens, education and estuary research, environmental sustainability, and free public programming.

HRPK is financially self-sustaining and relies on private support for its annual operations, maintenance and public programs. The HRPK 550 Fund supports:
- Landscapes and gardens: the four+ miles of lawns, trees and gardens that make Hudson River Park an urban oasis and beloved backyard for millions, as well as expert horticulturists and HRPK Friends volunteers who keep our green space thriving and beautiful.
- Education and estuary research: You can make the environmental research, hands-on STEM education and marine science programs that HRPK’s River Project brings to the community possible, inspiring scientists of all ages across NYC and communicating the ecological importance of the Park’s 400-acre Estuarine Sanctuary.
- Environmental sustainability: Our environmental sustainability efforts include a robust Community Composting Program serving neighborhoods all along the Park and a park-wide plastics reduction initiative – Park Over Plastic – that help build a greener NYC.
- Free public programming: Your support of the HRPK 550 Fund will bring free, fun, diverse culturally-rich programming to your riverfront backyard. You can enable Hudson River Park to transform into an open-air classroom, waterfront workout studio, outdoor concert venue, sunset dance floor and so much more. From supporting public health through fitness to providing inspiring resources in performing arts to the community your support will make a positive impact on New York City.
