As September brings crisper days to the Park’s four miles, we say so long to some of our summer events, but there are still plenty of free, fun programs to enjoy in Hudson River Park this month — and beyond!
Dive into Marine Science
The tenth annual SUBMERGE Marine Science Festival is back on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30 at Hudson River Park’s Pier 84. SUBMERGE brings science to life — and brings together local STEM experts with our River Project team — for a two-day celebration of NYC’s coastal waters. Through awesome experiments, kid-approved entertainment, opportunities to meet wildlife and more, this festival is full of opportunities for fun, interactive learning for all ages. The Friday event invites local students and teachers to experience the festival on memorable field trips, and the Saturday event welcomes the public to join in on the fun. We can’t wait to delve into all things marine science with you!
Stay Active this September
Our popular Healthy on the Hudson fitness series, presented by lululemon, continues on Wednesday mornings throughout September at Pier 57. Featuring alternating HIIT and Yoga classes, these free workouts led by lululemon Ambassadors offer an ideal mid-week rejuvenation. Plus, we have one more set of the Park’s Bike Skills 101 classes for kids and adults on Saturday, September 9. Both series require registration — check out our calendar for event details and sign up links.
Learn and Explore at our Wetlab and Discovery Tank
Our Pier 40 Wetlab is open for Look-in Hours through September and October, so be sure to stop by this flow-through research aquarium to meet local fish, crabs and other local creatures. And mark your calendars for Release of the Fishes on Thursday, October 26, when we return our wildlife ambassadors to the Hudson River for an end of season celebration.
Programming at the Park’s Pier 57 Discovery Tank also continues year-round. Our River Project’s interactive technology-powered classroom features interactive opportunities to play and explore our local environment. Visitors of all ages can explore during Guided Gallery hours, and budding scientists ages 3 to 8 can drop in for one of our weekly Sensory Science lessons. Laugh and learn from local experts during Ask a Scientist or join us for an evening of brain-busting fun at Science Trivia Night. And then be sure to explore your creative side during one of our upcoming Nature Poetry or Painting Nature workshops.
You’ll find open hours for both the Wetlab and Discovery tank on our events calendar.
