Get ready to break out magnifying glasses and binoculars to observe bugs and birds up-close and in their natural habitat!
Hudson River Park is home to hundreds of species of birds and bugs. Nature Explorers gives students the opportunity to learn about the importance of green space in an urban environment using our own senses, hands-on scientific tools and interactive games. This program occurs fully outdoors at Pier 63.
Program Objectives
- Students will be able to understand the importance of green spaces in urban areas
- Students will be able to identify different species of birds and bugs
- Students will be able to identify the parts of a plant
- Students will feel empowered to support wild habitats for migrating creatures
Program Information
- Student Capacity: 30 students per program
- Cost: $200 (waivers available upon demonstration of need)
- Adult chaperones: one chaperone is required for every 10 students (1:10 ratio) at minimum
